Dignam Earns Pro Tools Certification

Treelady Studios' engineer Mark Dignam is now the second member of the Treelady team to earn official Certification as a Pro Tools Operator for Music Production.  The prestigious award requires candidates to complete intensive training sessions and pass a comprehensive test.   Dignam recently completed his training in New York city with the ProMedia Training Center.

Treelady Mixes Track for Guitar Hero

Producer Claus Trelby recently worked with Treelady Engineer Dave Hidek on a bonus song for the mega-hit video game Guitar Hero. This time around, the team focused on the song "All Star" by the band SMASHMOUTH. The track will appear on an upcoming expansion package.

Treelady Mastering Client Charts on Rolling Stone’s College Top Ten

The Starlight Mint's new release, Drowatown, has been noticed by College Radio across the U.S. Accordingly, Rolling Stone Magazine listed the new CD in its College Radio Top Ten Albums for the week ending June 15, 2006. According to CMJ Networks, Inc, Drowatown ranked at number 8. The CD, which is the Starlight Mints debut release on Seattle-based Barsuk Records, was mastered at Treelady Studios by Chief Mastering Engineer Garrett Haines, and features the single, "Inside of Me."

Haines Leads Mastering Panel at Tape Op Convention

Treelady Studios' Chief Mastering Engineer Garrett Haines will moderate the Mastering Panel at this year's Tape Op Convention.  Due to events dealing with Hurricane Katrina, this year's events will be held at the Hilton El Conquistador Resort outside of Tucson, Arizona. On Mr. Haines' panel will be leading mastering engineers such as Chris Athens of Sterling Sound, Mark Christensen of Engine Room Mastering, Jen Munson of NPR/dB Plus,  and Jeff Carroll of Bluefield Mastering.

Topics will include preparing your mixes for mastering, mastering gear, tips and tricks, 5.1 surround, and much more.

Treelady Owner Quoted on Rupert Neve Site

A recent review by Treelady owner Garrett Haines is featured prominently on the manufacturer's site. Originally published in Tape Op Magazine, the review covers the Portico 5042 True-Tape Simulator. "What makes this device special is the miniature magnetic tape circuitry inside. There is an actual play head, reproduction head, transformers, everything. It is truly a miniature tape machine without the tape," noted Haines. "The 5042 was one of the key pieces of mastering gear I used on the Starlight Mints upcoming CD. The band and the mix engineer were really impressed with all of the analog richness the unit imparts," Haines concluded.

For individuals in the recording field, Rupert Neve is a household name. His recording devices have been used on countless records since the 1970's, including greats such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley, and many more.

Treelady Mixes Tracks for Rock Band

Producer Clause Trelby recently visited Treelady to work with Dave Hidek and Garrett Haines on a new project. The task involved remixing hit songs from THE KILLERS and FALL OUT BOY for a new video game called Rock Band. The interactive game, backed by M-TV will allow users to play guitar, drums, bass, or sing their favorite hit songs. Specifically, the trio worked on "Arms Race" by FALL OUT BOY and "When You Were Young" by THE KILLERS. Noted Haines, "We were working from the original Pro Tools master files that the tracking and mix engineers used for the releases. Consequently, we got to hear alternate takes, bloopers, and unused tracks. All I'll say is there were some guitar tracks that were outstanding, but never made the final mix. I'm sure it was a production choice, but from an engineering standpoint, the tones and performances were heavenly - those guys have some serious six-string talent."

According to the manufacturer, ROCK BAND should be in stores for the Holiday shopping season.

Dignam Joins Treelady Team

Treelady Studios is happy to announce that Mark Dignam has agreed to join our team. Mark originally hails from Dublin, and has a colorful career as a recording artist, having performed with the likes of Billy Bragg, David Grey, The Frames, and many more. Signed to Times Beach Records, his songs enjoy radio play across Europe, as well as in the United States. Mark brings his rich experience and insights to his new role as producer/engineer.
